Yummy coffee and sweets! As a general rule I like to try a place out at least a couple of times before giving a fair review. The first time I came out to Second Cup I had nowhere to work so the hubs and I decided to plop our butts done for a while. What better place than this.. Somewhere other than Starbucks where I could actually sit and concentrate, but still be next to a caffeine drip! Ahhh my favorite! I started off with a breakfast sandwich (on a plate) which was ok and a delicious latte (out of a mug, because it just tastes better to me that way! So Thank You!) A few hours later had another round of coffee and a muffin that they warmed up for me... Again, thank you! Customer service was on point also. Not sure if the blonde girl working there was a manager, but she sure did act like it. Second time around I needed a midday caffeine fix (yes, I'm addicted, don't judge me). I was indecisive and the nice young guy behind the counter asked if I'd like to try one of the chillers. Why yes, thanks... And yes, I'll take it! Paired perfectly on this scorching hot day with an incredible pumpkin and white chocolate cookie. Nom nom! The cookie was great, just enough spice with the sweet white chocolate chips. Again the blonde lady (that I think is a manager) was there. Very nice and attentive. I'll definitely come back.

This cafe totally win me over! It wins Starbucks hands down! For my first time we tried the barista crafted coffee. First, you get a selection of single origin beans: Colombian, Brazilian, Indonesia, etc and a few blends . There are brief descriptions on the menu to help you make your decision. They brew your coffee, one cup at a time, instead of dispensing it from a pot, in a gadget that according to the barista, is like an electric French press or aeropress. For dine in, you get your coffee in a nice, big ceramic mug. I love that, it's a much better feel nestling a mug in your hands instead of holding a paper cup. All that for less than $2. Very reasonably priced! My favorite cafe is Pasion del Cielo down in Miami, and I'd say that while it's very cozy inside Second Cup, with various types of chairs, it's not as comfy and home-feel as Pasion del Cielo. Nonetheless, it's a place that really invites you to spend time there. Also like the fact that there are plenty of outlets for charging your devices.

I've bookmarked this place with the intention of coming for a while. The place is decked out with a Halloween Christmas tree (yes, you read that correctly) and has a nice quirky charm to it. It's not too noisy so perfect for studying, and the baristas were super nice. I have a penchant for decorated lattes and one of them fulfilled my request; it's a lost art so I'm always delighted to have it. This is definitely not a place that is trying to rush you home, but invites you to stay. They make their drinks well, and I definitely plan on coming back.

Much better than Starbucks and the staff is always really friendly. It's definitely my go-to coffee spot.

I would give this place a 3.5, but there isn't the option. The coffee was phenomenal, cinnamon swirl with almond milk. Great place to study and great service. The only negative is that the baked goods always have flies:(.

UPDATE: this is the 4th time we go and the card system is down. Second cup is good but at least Sbux is consistent. . . My husband absolutely loves the place so I'll give it a four. Let me just say I think what gives it a 4 star is their love for the asinine Britto...they have a shrine dedicated to him and his products ::yuck:: The upside for their love of "art" is the owner allows artists to bring in their own works to sell on a huge wall. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. Besides coffee and teas, they have a variety of wines, beers, and iced drinks. The coffee from the Canadian based chain is good, and the environment is relaxed. It's a nice alternative to the hustle and bustle of Starbucks. P.S. The wifi signal is great, and lots of outlets.

Staff is really nice, atmosphere is cozy, great space to get work done. The baked treats are delicious and so are the coffees, which you can get in an actual mug! Refreshing change-up from Starbucks.

This place is simply amazing. You can tell that manager put in a lot of time choosing their employees, as I am extremely pleased with their service. The drinks are simply fantastic :) STUDY PLACE!!!

I really wanted to like this place. I saw a picture of the turkey basil pesto sandwich and thought it would be a winner. I am so disappointed to say that it was a big let down. I thought the turkey would be fresh and thick. The meat was so highly processed that I couldn't finish the sandwich. The basil pesto also left a lot to be desired.

just walking by stopped in for a caffeine hit, and it was good, i have one of their flat white drinks and it was put together correctly and tasted fantastically, the store was clean and very comfortable, the staff were very helpful in picking what i wanted to drink , and i know im kind of a pain when it comes to picking something. i will go back to this place when ever i am in the area

This place is my go to spot on the weekends. I'm working down here until May, and it is hard to know where to go when I have free time. The coffee is pretty good. One of the male baristas does a really lousy job, but all of the others do great. The people here are always really kind and sociable. I've gotten to know the staff pretty well and they always do a great job. The prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is good, and some weekends they do live music outside the main entrance.

I was in area for doc apt and wanted a cup of coffee and wasn't in mood for same ole.... So I yelped the area and found this place. Excellent vanilla latte! ...and the oatmeal with almond milk was amazing! Thank you, Terry!! I'll definitely be back. Super cozy, beautifully decorated, impeccably clean.. Hope a franchise opens in south dade soon!!

Coffee, not so good. Good place to study IF the staff is not loud, which they tend to be. Overall, good experience if you just wanna hang out or call a meeting for a pyramid scheme.

So here's why this rating isn't a 4 star. I come here every so often to find a peaceful place to work and one magical cup called Vietnamese Coffee. It's a delicious white chocolate coffee, but its that godly whip cream drizzled with caramel that just makes it spectacular in a mug. So you may imagine that despite the fact that wifi isn't always so good here, and the pastries are just ok... this is the one thing that keeps me coming back! Even though its at close to $5 a cup, I've had it at least 8 times in the last few months. But today it was different. First, I was greeted by a barista Ive seen here before, with a terrible look on her face (I said, ok... guess we all have bad days.. right?). Then I asked for my coffee as she impatiently took my money and I proceeded to wait (even though there was no one behind me to order). Next thing you know they call out for me and I see my coffee in a to-go cup. I've never received coffee at this establishment in a to-go cup, in fact, I consider that part of the charm, so I was obviously perplexed. So I let her know I wasn't planning to take it anywhere and that I thought it would be served in a mug. I asked if I was supposed to ask for a mug and with a smug face she says yes. Pours my coffee with disdain to a mug and stars drizzling caramel but I see no sign of the whip cream. So I let her know its missing the whip cream, she says, "Oh yeah, we don't have whip cream," and just places it for me to pick it up. I tell her the whole point of this specific coffee is the whip cream. Then she proceeds to tell me with an attitude that its a seasonal drink and that she wasn't sure it had any to begin with. Then she immediately and repeatedly asked me if I wanted something else with that continuing attitude. At that point I expressed that I felt like there had been a lot of lack of information that I thought she could have avoided when I was making the order. She ignored what I said and just repeated several times if I wanted something else with that same disdain and no apology for the lack of communication. At this point, I decide I just want my money back and she was like "sure" with a whatever attitude. And tells me she needs help getting the money back and that I can wait. So when she comes with my money I decide to let her know that I didn't think she handled the situation well, and that I've seen here as a barista before (because I have) and that this was not normally her, but that she should know that. She just nodded and went back to the bar. And here's what ultimately drove me to write this. She went back to the bar and then I could see her talking in the same smug attitude with the other barista about what just happened and making expressions that I knew were directed at what just happened, and honestly I didn't appreciate it. So here I am, writing this because the customer service needs improvement. The baristas should let customers know when somethings out before making the drinks, and if its a thing of the moment, then let the customer know and apologize for it. They should also ask a customer if they want it to-go or not, (though I'm sure at least I've been asked before by another barista). And third, they should know that people can see them at the bar. So that if something like this happens, they should address the complaint and keep their commentary about it for another time and not share it and have the other barista look back at the customer while she speaks about it. That's basic customer service, and I think it should be addressed. I'm literally sitting here at Second Cup just to write this and now leave. Not sure I'll stop by for Vietnamese coffee again, this was literally more work than its worth to have for good coffee and good treatment. :(

I used to visit this place every Sunday to try different types of drinks to try and find one that I can consistently stick to and drink; but I never found one. I am an immense fan of Chai tea latte in general, and usually when trying new coffee places I will try to chai tea latte first, and to sadly say, I like Starbuck's chai tea latte over Second's Cup. I tried it twice at two different times; one without vanilla and the other with. Both times were incredibly milky, and the vanilla one was just sooo sweet; I could barely finish it. There was only that faint taste of chai in it, if I drank just enough of it. They definitely should figure out a better proportion between the chai flavor and the milk. I am a tea fanatic; and Second cup's tea has disappointed me time and time again not only with just the Chai. I also tried their Wildberry Tisane and Jasmine Green both iced and hot. Honestly, they were both nothing special. The way they do the ice tea is a bit weird because they just put a lot of ice after the tea is brewed and leave the tea bags in there; and by the time I get the tea it's not cold but not hot enough to put the sugar in so it can blend, so the sugar just floats to the bottom of the cup. The flavor of the tea bags are just not strong enough, despite them putting two in the cup (maybe it's just the brand they use, I am just not a fan of it.) Lastly, I tried their peppermint hot chocolate a couple of days ago because you can't go wrong with that right? Apparently not. They put WAY too much peppermint syrup in the hot chocolate and it just completely overwhelmed the flavor of the chocolate which honestly tasted like a bag of Swiss Miss... I could have definitely made that on my own for a lot less cheaper and less sweeter than the one I had. Overall, I don't go to this place as frequent unless my friends want to just hang out or if I want to go to a place nearby to do work.

Let me just mention that they sell Britto mugs! How cool! Everything about Second Cup is inviting. From the warm welcome we received behind the bar to the huge, open layout of the cafe with loads of seating inside. We didn't make use of the large patio out front, perhaps it will be a thing to do as they offer open mic nights. The coffee was solid. Personally, I'm starting to get into cold brews & would have liked to see that offered on the menu. However, it did it's job as Acelyn B & I sat & enjoyed our beverages while taking in the glory of Second Cup. It shan't be long before I come back looking for my second cup. (Lame. I know.)

Great alternative for those that are tired of Starbucks scene. I love coming here because the location is very roomy with plenty of seat options. They have indoor/outdoor seating, high/low tables for small or big groups and lounge chairs. Wall outlets are plentiful to plug in your devices in addition to the free Wi-fi that is much faster than Starbucks(still don't understand how a SB corporation has slow internet in their stores). They also play modern music, sounds like something off pandora. The baristas are also friendly and very helpful. As far as the drinks go I would say it's decent but not something I would go out of my way for. They also tend to make a lot of their drinks too sweet so I always ask to for them to lighten up on the sweetness. Careful with the tea as well because it is also served extremely hot. Second cup provides a perfect atmosphere to be productive or relax.

Although the coffee itself wasn't eons greater than anywhere else I've had, I really like Second Cup Cafe because of the service they provided on my visit. First of all, there is a Yelp check-in offer for 50% off a pastry. Nice! Second, the barista that served Mark A. and I was super friendly, tons of energy, having-a-really-good-day attitude. We ordered a brownie, and she offered to warm it up for us. When it was done, the chocolate on top had melted into a fudge covering the brownie. She explained that's the exact reason why she wanted to warm it up for us. It was SO delicious! They also have a sign up that says if you show them a positive review on Yelp, they'll give you a treat on the house. I plan on coming for a second visit just for that. I already have my drink lined up too. It'll be tea time next!

My husband comes here more than I do. Hi boss actually comes here regularly (almost every work day)! I personally coming here than ping to Starbucks. Prices range depending on what you order from $1.75 for a freshly ground, freshly brewed on cup at a time coffee to $4.95 for a natural yogurt smoothie. I find there's more variety here and the quality is better. The service is also more personalized- staff is super friendly and always ready to help you decide what you want to order. I also like that they have a designated wall where they display local artists' pieces for sale. Unlike other coffee shops, this one sells beer and wine for your enjoyment too. This is definitely a place to come, Connect your lap too to get work done, or to come and connect with some friends over a cup of coffee or tea.

Absolutely LOVE this place! Possibly the best cafe in the area. I love the fact that it is so chill and comfy, they also have ridiculously fast wifi, and great choices on their menu! Their fro-yo is yummy too, who knew cafe's had froyo? If you're ever looking for a quiet place to study, this is it!

I've been to this location a handful of times, I typically order a Soy Green Tea Latte, let me say it's a lot better than the one at Starbucks. The ambiance is very peaceful and relax-full just like most typical cafe's. It can get full or it can be relatively quiet depending on certain points via the course of the day. The barista's are friendly and knowledgable of there drinks. I've had some of there pastries and sweets, there not screaming "got to have" but there good. It's defiantly an alternative to your local Starbucks if your in the mood for something a little different.

This is absolutely the best coffee around here. Coffee taste great and is also a very nice place to hang out to study or just to chill. Starbucks is nasty compare to their coffee. Try it and you will never buy starbucks or DD again. Cool people working here btw.

Great coffee (especially the lattes) and what's even better is, it is served in a real cup not styrofoam when eating in. However, they need to be more creative with their breakfast and lunch menu..not too much variety. The breakfast egg/sausage/cheese muffin was not good at all. The sausage smell like it was past due. I enjoy the ambiance and the coffee so I now make sure I eat somewhere else and sip my favorite coffee there.

Thoroughly unimpressed with this place. I frequent coffee shops and love everything java. I was excited to come in here because it was a new coffee spot in town. I walked in and admired the decor. But that was the only thing i liked. As I was ready to order, I wasn't greeted in the most polite of manners. The woman was quite rude and did not seem to know the answer to a simple question I asked about how they brew the iced coffee. The barista that made my drink wasn't friendly either. I tried striking up conversation with him and he idly stared at me with a blank expression. When I got my iced coffee I wanted to spit it out all over the place because of how bland the flavor was. It tasted like water and the milk curdled. I threw it out almost immediately upon exiting. I should have spent my $3.00 at Starbucks. Definitely never coming back here again.

I really like this place! Was here a couple of times just getting coffee, then one day I decided to try their food... And it was GREAT! So I made it one of my places to go to catch up on work, sip some tea, and relax. Great staff, and good energy!

Very friendly staff, and delicious coffee. Lots of options as far as coffee drinks, teas, different milks options, etc. This place is great for studying or meeting friends. I've had a few different pastries/desserts, and haven't loved any of them unfortunately. So, I stick to my coffee and I'm happy though!

Second Cup is truly a rival to Starbucks. This Canadian-born chain is starting to find its way into the US and they decided to call South Florida another home. It certainly has a different feel from Starbucks. It feels more homey. Sure, Starbucks boasts the same amenities as free WiFi and seating so the college students and the occasional Yelp writer can find solace within its four walls but Second Cup turns it up a couple notches and makes you feel like you're right at home. It has a warm ambiance and a welcoming decor that gives you an immediate calming feeling. I honestly can't explain it but just know that you'll be sure to like the setup of the store. The employees are extremely nice and very helpful. The prices rival Starbucks a little being about 50-70 cents cheaper than their competition. One of the things that set Second Cup apart is that they offer unsweetened vanilla almond milk as an option. Can you say AWESOME??? I was like a kid in a candy store when the girl at the register said they had it!!! I tried their version of a skinny iced vanilla chai latte with almond milk and it was really good! They use real tea bags and steep it for the latte. As a result, it takes a little longer than usual but it's worth the wait when you're not in a hurry. Awesome employees, cheaper menu, quality products, and superb service means that I will certainly be visiting Second Cup again in the near future.

Heard great things about this place from a friend so I definitely had to try it out when I was in the area. Super cute and cozy was how I felt when I walked in. The barristas were nice and patient as I am very indecisive of what I want to order or try. I got the hazelnut latte. So glad that they had almond milk! Rarely would I find a coffee shop in Florida with almond milk. The other reviewers warned me about how sweet the coffees were, so I asked for just one pump instead of their normal 2. Still that was just a bit much for someone who likes just one packet of raw sugar in their coffee. Next time I'll just ask for that. I also ordered the breakfast sandwich. It was pretty decent for a pre-made item. Definitely would love to come back whenever I'm in the area. Great hang out spot.

It's sad, I used to really like Second Cup. However, recently the coffee-- and staff-- have become sub par. The coffee is bitter and occasionally tastes burnt. The employees are rude and unfriendly. The atmosphere here has changed drastically over the years and now has become just another typical chain coffee shop, sad.

First time here and the two baristas that attended me were awesome! Really cheery and fun. I got the caramel corretto, which is one of their specialties and I loved it. They charge you extra for whipped cream, which i don't think they should. I had their pumpkin spice white chocolate chip cookie and it was DELICIOUS!!!!! I highly recommend it.

I love this place!!! I just wish they had something like it closer to where I live. I had to drop my friend off at the 'same day surgery place' and found this location on YELP. As I needed coffee, food, and free wifi. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a cup of joe and the bill was under $4!!!! When does this happen. There was plenty of indoor/outdoor seating, as well as, plugs! Everyone was very friendly including the employees. Beats a Starbucks any day!

Great coffee house! The drinks. I've had a frozen hot chocolate and their Cuzco blend. The frozen hot chocolate was actually very "Serendipity-esque" (of NY/Vegas fame) which was delightful, but the only con is I'll say it's a bit on the sweet side. The Cuzco was good, not my favorite blend (a bit too bitter). I sound like Goldilocks now don't I? But the great thing about Second Cup is they have so much variety so I am happy to come back and try more! I definitely want to try their teas next time. The food. The only thing I've tried so far is a guava cheese pastry. It was ginormous for under $4 and they kindly heated it for me. I like that they have the options of their yogurt and oatmeal. It is nice to know I have some healthier options while I study. The study environment. Lots of seating and outlets. Free wifi that works well! I have yet to see the place entirely fill up, which is nice because I don't like having to study knocking elbows with others. The play a top 40 type station (sometimes mixed with some hiphop/edm) inside, which doesn't bother me at all. Sometimes the music ends and there's just silence, which is fine by me too. Most of the time I'll have my headphones on anyway. The temperature is just right as well. I find a lot of places will blast the AC, but it is cool enough without having to freeze my butt off! Definitely recommend for an afternoon/evening of productivity with some yummy coffee and food options!

Starbucks has nothing on Second Cup. This little coffee house is a great little study spot to enjoy your cup of Joe or should I say mug of Joe. When you sit it, you are actually given a nice big mug of coffee to accompany you with the leather sofas or comfy chairs.

Excited to try a new coffee shop. Overall, great appearance, cute decorations, lots of seating, outlets, and free wifi. Downside-floors were filthy, iced pumpkin spice latte tasted more like a cup of flavored milk-but not pumpkin flavored. :( I even had to ask for it to be shaken with more ice because it was warm. Hoping to find a drink I love next time!

This is a must for my boyfriend and I when we're in Pembroke Pines visiting friends. Such a cozy spot and it's not like every Starbucks that's on every corner!!! The coffee is fresh and they also have pastries that aren't to "die for" but they're okay. I really wish they'd open a second cup in Kendall!!!!!

First time here. I was not sure what to expect. Well here is the breaking news guys! It's an atmosphere and feel very much like a Starbucks, minus all the pretentious hipsters and offers actual good food. I had an egg/bacon english muffin that had real eggs! Also, the coffee was of good flavor. They bring the food / drinks to your area and they also offer free wifi. Great place to come study or even have a meeting. I would prefer this to a Starbucks except, damn those drive thru's are really convenient some times. 4 Stars for great service, good food coffee and clean restrooms (yes I went in)!!

LOVE their coffee my favorite thing to order is the Green Tea Latte. I love green tea anything so when I saw this I just had to have it. I'll even a add a warm cookie to my order every now and then. I love the large selection of teas also. It's all worth ever penny. Especially when I get off work and its right there for me to enjoy. They have free WiFi. Outdoor seating if I want to have a cigarette with my latte. Baristas are nice and helpful if you need anything. Only thing I don't like is the music every now and then. And sometimes its not so clean (crumbs on tables and seats) I don't believe there is a restroom either.

They can make your lattes with almond milk (my favorite). That was the reason that drove me to want to try this place out. That and the fact that I literally live like 1 block from this place. I'm not a coffee drinker at all, but I do love the occasional latte and warm, relaxing environment that coffee houses offer when you don't just want to be home. I went in on a Wed night with a friend and all the seats were practically taken by students (I assume) on their Mac Books. So we knew we were going to be sitting outside, which was fine as it was a nice, breezy, rainy night. We both ordered the same latte: vanilla bean (mine with almond milk). I ordered a medium sized latte in a ceramic cup. It was bigger in size than I expected so I think I'll just order a small next time like my friend did. That was too much latte for someone who barely drinks them. The vanilla bean tasted good. Not as awesome as I was hoping, but still yummy. I'm usually a chai tea person so next time I'm going to try that or the pumpkin spice ('tis the season) instead. The baristas were nice but they were a little off their game for some reason. By that I mean they dropped and spilled my friend's latte when they first made it. Then, they offered her a ceramic cup instead of a plastic up AFTER they had already taken my order (I ordered after her) so they realized they hadn't given her the option and they just poured the latte into the ceramic cup. Once we had gotten our lattes and seated ourselves outside, one of the girls comes over and tells us that one of our lattes was pumpkin spice and not vanilla bean and they didn't know which one. My friend and I said it was fine because we'd enjoy either one. However, I think they were mistaken because neither one of us tasted pumpkin on our drinks. LMAO. They were out of it! This did not take away from my experience, however, and I will be going back for more lattes with friends. It's a cozy spot and the lattes were good.

This place makes very good coffee in a very clean, comfortable, spacious and relaxing environment. The pastries and the breakfast sandwiches are also delicious. However, some mornings they can be rather slow in the service department. If you go when Terry is working the morning shift she'll take good care of you with a big smile on her face. They just need to work on improving the efficiency of the service and they should do great despite the large over-head they need to cover. I hope others will go and try their coffee. You won't be disappointed and it's nice to have an alternative to Starbucks. P.S. They also offer free wi-fi and nice music.

Good coffee.... It's a good place to do business, study or hangout! The lattes are really good along with their pastries and there is always a seat available... Not to mention I live around the corner.

Great coffee selection. Not a fan of the muffins. Relaxing decor with free wi-fi, and choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Will likely return for another beverage choice.

I really like this place. It has much more of a cafe feel than Starbucks; it has more personality and it's much more comfortable to spend time here. As a student, this place offers well lit areas, without feeling under interrogation, comfortable seats and chairs, and an overall comfortable feeling when you arrive. Here you do not need to learn a new language to order your coffee, nor do you have to wait in super long lines. I come here to read, study, and relax. Don't get me wrong I am a big fan of the Starbucks model, but this place is a little more relaxed. Why not 5 stars? Sometimes service can be a little slow, but this does not detract from the experience. The other thing is that the music volume is variable through the day. Starts soft and mild in the morning, and starts ramping up to faster and louder sounds. It's not too harsh, but it does make it's patrons get louder and louder over time. I certainly recommend this place to anyone. I can say that I have been coming here nearly since it opened, and you can see that it has become a popular place in Pembroke Pines.

A great place to study or meet up with friends. The atmosphere is very laid back, cozzy with just the right amount of AC. There's also free wifi. I really enjoyed the fact that everyone there made an effort to keep the noise level down. The music also played lightly in the background. There seems to be a wide variety of pastries and other necessary munchies I am not a coffee drinker so I ordered a cold raspberry tea. Very refreshing and less than $3.00. I am lucky to have this right in my backyard to enjoy!

Absolutely love it here! I've been a regular since they opened. The product is amazing, the atmosphere is perfect for just grabbing a cup with your friends or studying for school, and the baristas are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I come here practically every day to do school work. My top recommendations are any of the lattes (especially if Amanda is working), the smoothies are great too and I'm in love with practically every pastry. If you're an earl grey drinker like me, i definitely recommend the London Fog tea latte. And the icespresso is perfect for the insanely hot days in Florida. Overall, i highly recommend this place. It's not overpriced like Starbucks and the product is way better in my opinion.

The overall atmosphere is good but the drinks are not that good. They were way too sweet and the snacks had limited flavor. It will not be my new coffee spot but in a crunch any caffeine is great caffeine.

Great coffee place. My preferred place for coffee. Much better than Starbucks. Service is always very kind and friendly. I tried one of their breakfast sandwiches today and it was very tasty. Try their Vanilla Bean Latte... delicious!

I'm giving them three stars but in no way is this Pines cafe mediocre. It's just that as employees go I would hardly rate their baristas as passionate for great coffee. They're friendly and helpful and that's good enough. You're not likely to be disappointed here, and they have live music on weekends from time to time which is a nice touch. They have beer and wine, but don't be mistaken, this is a coffee house. Truth be told,I want to give them another star, and I do enjoy coming here instead of Starbucks, but it's still got that corporate feel, (sue me I'm biased against corporate food and drink places) so for me it's three stars plus. Enjoy. PS, if you're passionate about your coffee try their Paradiso cup.

Love this place. I wish there was a second cup closer to where I live. I would be there all the time. I got the chai latte and it was really tasty. I have tried other coffee drinks other times and I have never been disappointed.

I finally popped in here to do some work one afternoon. While the atmosphere was inviting, it wasn't too busy or too quiet, and the staff was friendly... I wasn't sold on my drink. :/ I has a frozen espresso drink that was flavored with vanilla. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't 'ahhh, delicious'. I still have my Check-In Offer pending, so I'll try a simple coffee next time I need a little local work getaway... Keep you all posted!

5 star coffee place with 3 star cheesecake. Don't offer bakery if it's going to taste bad! The top layer was the gummy. Yuck. But the atmosphere is uncomparable. It spacious, comfortable, and people were working up a storm on a Friday afternoon. I loved it!

When I am around the area I always come here for my macchiato double espresso and it is always done perfect with double shot of expresso and milk foam. Unfortunately in Starbucks always I have to check because they fill with milk and not foam. Besides that the environment is really good and you can enjoy your coffee with real porcelain tea cup.

Great study spot. Ample amounts of tables and comfy chairs for reading, studying and meeting up with friends. And a variety of music. I have been to all type of study spots and this is one of my favorites. The tv isn't blaring that staff is friendly and they have awesome desserts.

To start on a positive note, the people are really friendly, and outgoing and willing to answer any and all questions. I blame it on the fact that they have only been open for 6 weeks (at the time i'm writing this) on the fact that most of the employees still have to reference drink recipe books. Milk options include 2%, skim, whole, soy, or almond. So I'm not really picky when it comes to coffee, but I know what I like. I realize this location just opened and they are trying extra hard to impress the community, but sometimes you just want coffee, you know? So the first time I went here, I was excited to try a new coffee place, but was disappointed when my regular latte came back with so much flavored syrup that i couldn't finish it. My "second cup" was an experience not that much better. I asked for a chai latte and to my disappointment, the "chai" comes from a flavored powered with settled to the bottom of my drink... and i couldn't finish it. The price isn't that much better than SB, when a large (they only have small and large options) cost $4.45. And honestly, the other reviews are pretty positive. So I hope your experience is great. Unfortunately, I will probably not be back for at least a few months to try this again. Hope this helps!

Soooo AWESOME coffee! And their sugar cookie is good and as big as your face. It's honestly my favorite place to study and has way more room than Starbucks. I strongly recommend this place.

Stopped by this morning take advantage of their March 2013 special... free coffee, tea or latte from 6AM-9AM ... The atmosphere is nice and the employees are pleasant... at 7AM Im used to a line at Starbucks, but the place was empty! The wildberry tea was a change, and Im sure to pass by again. They do have Open MIC nights, and a outside patio for those nice weather days...

I've been meaning to stop in for a while now and I'm so glad I did! I had an iced hazelnut latte that was out of this world. Creamy nutty goodness in a cup! The baristas are friendly. I was able to sample a frozen espresso drink that was... whoa! I'm not one for frozen drinks but that little shot did the trick. I'll definitely be back. Maybe I'll hang out for a while next time.

The name says it all, You will want a 2nd Cup. Lol. The fact that they live to they're name and are not ridiculously overpriced or franchised to the tee helps. The guy that made my drink had never made it, We joked as I de-virginized him with my Skinny Peppermint Moca. They had Belgium chocolate sprinkles,(Yum-o) and my cup had a foam heart.. How sweet. *^_^* The ambiance is nice, decor is very pretty. Quite honestly If I need to get some work done, and relax with my cup of coffee I'm coming over lol... Starbucks has gotten too loud.

The coffee left me craving more. So much that my wife & I had to come back the next day. I enjoy a flavorful cup of coffee (not flavored coffee). My usual drink is brewed Pike Place at Starbucks, no cream. This coffee was much better, probably because it was made in some machine that appeared to make the coffee like a french press. Fantastic stuff. They do take more time to serve you but I think that is due to just opening and the staff needing more experience; however, the wait is worth it. Who knew Canadians could make such good coffee. BTW, the lady who rang us up this is the 1st Second Press location in the US. How lucky. If you enjoy coffee, definitely give it a try.

So, after reading some reviews and craving something different than my Kuerig original, I decided to give this place a try. So the atmosphere feels a little like a Starbucks, larger though and more comfortable seating in my opinion, but not necessarily the unique, indie kind of coffee shop feel. The people are super friendly, and right away answered all my questions about the different blends. Refreshing to have a barista actually know the product they are selling. Based on what I described my likes and dislikes as, she brought out a Hazelnut Creme roast that wasn't on the menu. Hazelnut is my flavor of choice, but I try to avoid the syrups as much as possible in order to achieve the taste, and they had just the thing! The flavor was infused in the beans. They ground the beans right in front of me, and my perfect cup was served. I was given a long spoon without even having to ask, and they have about five different milk and sugar options, including almond milk and truvia (my personal favorites). And another added bonus, the large cup is a grand total of two dollars and forty-two cents! Don't know how I could possibly afford to make a trip here frequently without going broke.... Nice place, only complaint is the music is a little loud and commercial for my taste, but hey.

Their lattes, both tea and coffee, are delicious, as are their pastries! I love sitting on their comfy couches and chairs and enjoying my drink. The atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable and it's nice to get your drink in a real cup, not paper. The staff are always friendly and accommodating.

Love this place except some of the staff....one I'm particular talks waaaay too much! She's loud and intrusive. I get friendly but she doesn't know boundaries and it drives me insane. In any case a great alternative to Starbucks and I much prefer the general atmosphere minus the chatter box. Also when the staff isn't working they really shouldn't be fixing their food behind the counter.

I have been a fan of second cup since the first week they opened this location. I have never had an issue with this place until today. While waiting for my coffee, I noticed a worker, who I later found out is the new manager Suzanne, making fresh orange juice on the OJ machine. She had a tray full of small sample cups and a very large drink cup, which she was using to catch the OJ from the machine. I wasn't 100% sure what she was doing because she was texting on her phone the whole time so I assumed she was on a break. When I saw her start drinking from the OJ cup, it lead me to beleive she was definitely on a break, which I thought was odd since she was in the middle of the work area. And then I couldn't believe what I saw, she started filling the sample cups with the other half of the orange juice she was just drinking from. I was stunned and very disturbed by this. Then she had the nerve to put the samples out with a sign saying "Free Samples". This is unacceptable behavior from anyone but from a manager it's even worse. This will be my last visit to Second Cup.

Reminds me very much of Starbucks. The employees are eager to find the right drink that will make you happy. They are very friendly and will explain at length what is in each coffee. I like the ambiance and couch and tables throughout the store. I would definitely choose Second Cup over Starbucks if I were meeting friends and wanted to sit around and talk. There are many comfy areas and spots throughout the store.

I still love this place and it is my favorite coffee place in west broward, however lately the music has been quite loud. When I sit down to have a cup of coffee and do some reading, I do not want loud party music playing in the background. Music is fine, but it must be at a reasonable level. The music choice must also be easy listening. Party or dance music is not appropriate in a coffee shop. When loud party music is played, this also causes other guests to raise the volume of their voices in order to have a conversation. How is this relaxing in a coffee shop? Please guys, fix this. I don't want to switch back to Starbucks. For now, I have dropped my rating to 3 stars but will raise it back up when the atmosphere improves.

New little place around pines that is not a Starbucks and not a dunkin donut so I loved it. Changing up the coffee taste. The employees were very nice and helpful, they let me know that if I did not liker something they would make anything else for me. The atmosphere is very quite unlike every Starbucks in town. I def like this place and will be back again

First post ever on yelp for me and I was compelled to write it because of how powerful the experience was. First visit to Second Cup ever. Walked in and the AC was broken (it's 83 degrees outside right now). Police came in because the manager and a customer got in a fight over her sitting in the outside seats without buying anything. Been waiting 20 minutes for my coffee. So has everyone else. The manager left and there are only two employees to work the line. They are trying but it is impossible. The cashier is soaked in sweat. Everyone is upset with the slow service. If I were them I would return people's money. I will keep waiting here for my coffee and will never return in my life.

Love the vibe of this place!! Great music!! The staff are friendly, nice outdoor seating as well, and inside its very comfortable. They have a wine tasting night, with a cpl tasty wines on the menu. I took off a star because I've been here many times now, and they need to pull out a broom on slow times, and add some healthier not so sweet treats for us health nuts :)

Ok, I really love this place. It's cheaper and more intimate than Starbucks, and it's definitely a much better study spot. They have tables set up all over so you study on your own, and they even have a long high-top for group projects and such. The only thing is that it can get a little crowded in the evening with people studying and working. The first time I was there, I wanted to try the green tea chiller but they were out of green tea so the barista recommended the chillate...and it was yummy! I also ordered the turkey swiss tomato basil pesto panini and they toasted it for me and tossed in a macaroni salad and I ate and drank happily as I got some hw done. I went back again soon after for another chillate and as I reached for my wallet to pay, the barista smiled at me and said, "Don't worry about it, it's on us right now!" I was sold! I don't know if it was some special that evening or what, but they always seem to have specials going on and the service is always friendly so no complaints there. I eventually tried the green tea chiller that I originally wanted, and I decided to customize it with almond milk and white chocolate syrup. Sooooo good. I love green tea anything, including the green tea frap at Starbucks, but this was different - in a good way! I need to try their other stuff sometime. This is definitely my favorite study spot at the moment, but I prefer when it's a little emptier so I can get the best tables lol. Oh, and they always have good music playing quietly and a basketball game on tv! A plus!

Great coffee, very comfortable atmosphere. I come here when I want a change of scenery from my office and find I actually get a lot done in this environment. Plenty of seating, coffee is fresh/nice variety. As others have indicated, it's not quiet, but I always work with headphones on so this wasn't really an issue for me.

I'm a huge coffee drinker/snob and after living in New Orleans where the many coffee shops compete with each other (and try to outdo each other!), I wondered where all the Starbucks competitors were. It's a metropolitan area, so no one was able to outdo Starbucks...really? Along came Second Cup! I live in Weston, so I'm pretty far away, but I use any excuse to go to Pembroke Pines in order to visit my favorite local coffee spot. I love the space, it's big and not stuck up and snooty (like some coffee shops can be). The service is really good, and the coffee is awesome! I like the special roasts, and I'm a sucker for a maple latte (how come Starbucks hasn't done a maple latte yet?)- of course a Canadian chain knows their maple. They also have a much better, fresher variety of baked goods and sandwiches, and huge bagels. Stop by Second Cup- I hope they open one closer to me soon, though I'll keep making the hike when I can, it's that good!

  • Marianne W.

I LOVE this place! If they had a drive through I would switch my 2-4 Starbucks visits a week to them. Their coffee is better, they have a larger variety of drink options (including smoothies), the atmosphere is great for chilling with friends or studying and the staff has been great every time I've gone. The pricing is also a little cheaper than starbucks, at least with the chai and green tea lattes w/soy milk.

I come here frequently to study, its a pretty good place to post up and study for hours. Plenty of tables and lots of room to do work but can sometimes get packed with people depending on what time/day it is. The crowd is pretty chill too and sometimes they even have events going on right outside of the cafe. As far as the food an beverages go there were plenty of things that I loved. The pastries are fresh and made daily by nearby bakeries. They have a pretty wide selection of sweets that seem to change up every time I go there. Make sure you check in too so you get half off. I haven't tried all their drinks yet but so far they've all been on point. Make sure you try their green tea latte, it's their best drink! Even if you don't I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you end up with. Their staff is pretty friendly too. Easy to approach and very helpful whenever you need a suggestion.

My experience here is always wonderful other than a guest who refused to be satisfied and was beyond rude to the Barista behind the counter. The barista who in my opinion went above and beyond (I felt as is she offered the customer the world) to satisfy her yet this lady insisted to be mean and nasty to that poor girl!! I myself and other guest at the shop commented on how rude this guest was. This lady was literally harassing your sweet employee and no one should encounter such an abuse..

I can never get tired of this place. Ever since I was introduced I can't say that I've found a better spot, thanks Kimberly! If you're looking for a place to study, a variety of lattes to choose from, or just a comfy chair to rest your cushion, well you've come to the right spot. There are plenty of tables to set your base at, indoors and outdoors, and even a grand high top. Deep ambience, especially during the evenings on weekdays where all you hear is the barista machines, top hits, and common commotion of other customers. However, during the weekends or primetimes the noise level may tend to raise a couple notches. For my first time here I tried the Butternut Signature Latte and oh boy, you're in for a treat. If you like green tea, a thicker, and sweeter latte, I suggest the Green Tea Latte. The Hazelnut, Chai, and London Fog are all also great choices (typing this as I finish the last sip of my fog, mmmm). Oh and did I mention that all of these lattes have a nice cloud on top? (As I foam-mustache you) The baristas here are super sweet and helpful if you're unsure about your order and very catering to make sure you'll get what you want. Also, be sure to check out their specials from time to time here on yelp and don't hesitate to ask.

In an effort to find the best iced mocha I stopped into Second Cup on a Saturday mid-morning. While the mocha was alright (certainly not the best ever), it was the customer service that really let me down. Walking in I really liked the vibe of the place. It's hard to explain but it's a little "homier" than Starbucks. I know SCC is a chain, but it almost (ALMOST) feels like a local spot. We approached the register and waited a little bit - someone finally came over and we ordered. My wife wanted her coffee with Splenda. The dude making the coffee looked at us and said - can you go get me the Splenda (kind of nodding towards the little area where you self serve your sugar, grab napkins, etc.). WHOA...wait...what? You want her to go and get her own sugar? That's ODD. Why aren't you walking over to get it for us? Now, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought the counter wrapped around so for him to go get it would of been a pain - but then we walked over there and it wasn't wrapped around. He was actually CLOSER than we were to the sugar. He served up our drinks and took forever pouring my mocha as he chatted away with another customer. Finally got my drink and I said thanks.....no response. Not a "You're welcome" or "thanks for coming"....not even a smile...or any eye contact really. He put my drink down and literally turned back around. The mocha was good - really chocolaty and once the ice melted a bit it was great. However, the experience was ruined because of the customer service. The guy looked miserable and for a place that was empty I expected a little more attention to detail. Here's your chance to really connect with a customer - ehh I digress

Love the pistachio muffin!!!!!!!! I went for the first time last week Saturday. The girls behind the counter were super friendly and patient with me as I drooled indecisively--not a misplaced modifier my the way, as my drool couldn't really decide what to actually drool over--over the desserts. I was in and out quickly, so I'm not sure what the culture of the place is really like. The muffin made my day.

Blah... coffee is mediocre. Had to return the "freshly" baked croissant bc I could barely swallow it. It tasted stale. Hubby had the oreo cheesecake & says it was only ok. Place is over priced for the quality. Staff was accommodating.

The flat white coffee I ordered was full bodied and not bitter at all, it's a good place to sit with friends and relax or catch up on online social media. I love this place! It's the perfect place to study. They have lots of tables and outlets. The noise level is never too bad. Great place to concentrate and sip on some good coffee. They have sandwiches, cakes, and desserts too. My favorite drink is the hot green tea latte.

Love this place. Im so tired of the same old starbucks. I loved the variety of specialty coffees they offered. Their Green Tea Latte was amazing so far my favorite. Nice atmosphere. This place is the BOMBBBBB!!!!!! Since I'm from the Middle East I shouldn't say that word, but I'm saying it again. This place is amazing!!!!! Everything about this make you feel like you in an upscale Starbucks but better. Great place to sit and get a coffee. And they have some amazing snacks with no one will say no to it. Let me start by saying, any coffee you get will be the best coffee you ever got from a coffee place. More and more I drink from places like this and Grind Coffee Project in Fort Lauderdale. I'm learning the to taste real coffee. I'm telling you, you all don't know how a coffee taste until you try it from Second Cup and The Grind Coffee Project. Cappuccino:- One of my favorite from here The capuccino combines equal portions of espresso, steamed milk and foam. Caramel Corretto:- If I'm in a mood for something sweet :) A tempting blend of creamy caramel and mellow vanilla poured over ice, topped with caramel drizzle over foam. These are some of my favorite and they have few more in the cafe. And also if you looking for a place to study and have a small place to have a meeting. This place is for you. Try it out

This place is absolutely amazing! Their lattes are so delicious and the staff is soo nice! I'm a huge fan of the butternut latte. They also have free internet and open mic night for you talented boys and gals. Come here to get your study on and coffee game strong! They also use the belly card so each time you can check in and get points and enjoy some perks towards your belly i.e. your stomach.

Sorry guys, but it did not come up to par with me. The 2 young ladies working the counter were soft spoken, eager to serve, and sweet. I really appreciated that, especially after the crummy drive. And the place itself had such a homey feel to it. But the things I ordered didn't satisfy. For my free small brewed coffee on check-in, I opted for the Cazco, a medium roast w/ chocolate notes from Latin America. I brought this 1 to my mom but I couldn't help but try it. I noticed they did not put any creamer so I used creamer from home. I did grab stevia packets from the cafe, in which I've never tried. I put 1 in and it gave me a sour face. Then tried some brown sugar and nope, just wasn't doing it. My mom liked it but she didn't taste any chocolate. Me, I really didn't like it but I DID taste chocolate LOL! I got an iced latte for myself, w/ hazelnut flavoring. Ehhh, definitely not as satisfying as I anticipated, but those flavorings are a hit or miss. And I know they are so artificial; I give it a bit of the benefit of the doubt, but I just couldn't get around to like it. I also tried the banana nut muffin and that was good, but not great. The thing that was super disappointing was the knats flying all over the sugar/creamer counter. Gross! Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to help myself for quite some time, but I will come back to give it another shot.

I was sooooo excited to find this place, my friends and I were looking for a good coffee shop that sold delicious treats and we finally found one. Not to knock on other popular places though, this place was everything I expected and more. Everyday between 8-10pm for $6 you can have a latte and a slice of cake... Who doesn't want that?! Prices are slightly less than Starbucks which is always a perk to save money and the chocolate cake is just perfect with a latte. When I arrived I automatically checked in and got an offer that they honored with my order. Located in a plaza with lots of restaurants this place is great after a meal to chill and have some dessert :) Personally I ordered the Caramel Corretto and a slice of chocolate cake, both were delicious and are definitely sharing sizes on the cake slices.... I don't believe in sharing my drinks though, but it was big enough to share.

Nice to see a competitive coffee place that offers something unique, Canadian nonetheless. I've tried caribou coffee up north (MN) but never saw that chain in the south. So I'm really glad second cup opened up and the first time I went there it was with family from Canada and they were impressed too! I like their lattes and espresso. They have rewards, free wifi, pretty neat merchandise and good service. Second cup's Caramel Corretto vs. Starbucks' Caramel Coffee - second cup wins hands down!!! Wait... They have chocolate espresso?! Ummm I'll have a double shot please! I like that they serve in ceramic cups, you feel like you're really having a real cup of tea or coffee. Best of all is the ambience, it's so calm and soothing, you can relax all day or get work done unlike the noisy Starbucks in the neighborhood. I have some special memories here!

Sunday morning 11am...I expected the place to be packed out...but it wasn't. It has the feel of a calm library without the overbearing librarian watching you all the time. The noise level ebbs and flows but is never dsturbing. Plenty of places to relax (chairs and sofas) but also spots to sit at tables and get some work done. There are PLENTY of outlets for plugging in and getting some work done too. There's a built in library so you can just grab something and start reading. There was a business meeting going on in one corner and some college students studying. Great background music as well. I ordered a large flat white and had a sandwich pressed on the panini grill. Both were really nice. The staff wasn't that friendly though...maybe it was because one of them knocked over a pitcher of steamed milk and the 2 of them were scrambling to get the mess cleaned up with out burning themsleves. I love the atmosphe and I'll be back primarily because of that...the food and beverages were ok but nothing really jumped out at me as I read the menu or ate what I ordered.

Excellent cinnamon swirl latte! The customer service and the coffee shop is great especially for studying, but the pastries have flies.

This was my very first time at Second Cup Cafe. I wasn't too sure what to expect but my friends that live in the area told me I would enjoy their coffee as well as the atmosphere for reading and studying. They were correct, I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere of this coffee shop. The music they played was good, it was not too loud, but still loud enough to hear it and enjoy it without it being too distracting. I camped there for about 4 hours or so while I got some reading done for school. In my opinion, their service was pretty good. The workers were really polite and helpful in answering any questions I had about any of their signature lattes. My first drink was an Iced Hazelnut Latte which was really good! Can't go wrong with Hazelnut! About an hour later I got a second drink, it was a White Chocolate Ice chiller (I think that's what it's called) and that thing was amazing! Loved it and can't wait to get it again! I definitely recommend it!! Unfortunately I do not live in this area but if I did it would definitely become my new homework spot. With all that said I am pleased with my first visit at Second Cup Cafe and next time I am in town I look forward to visiting again for some coffee!

I'm going to be honest-I was not impressed. I have a few close friends who gather here for study sessions during the week, and I'll bite, the atmosphere was charming. Couches surrounding the entry when you walk in and a nice long table in the back area. I do like that they serve their coffee in actual mugs when you order in and they have a decent variety of teas and coffees to choose from. I was happy just finding somewhere that wasn't Starbucks. I ordered a cappuccino. I figured I couldn't go wrong there and I needed an afternoon pick-me-up. But the drink came room-temperature and the foam was...weird. Like bath bubbles. I'm in no way a coffee-making expert, but I do consume a lot of coffee on the regular from many different places. I also got a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie which was subpar and tasted like it'd been there for a few days. We sat outside and there were napkins flying all over the place, cups left on tables, and customers from the neighboring Chipotle taking over the seats. Inside seemed to be cleaner, so I'll give them that. I'm willing to try again. Everyone deserves a second chance, right?

Rj is the best! Great personalities. They are very friendly and entertaining. Best coffee in town. Second cup is a nice cozy place to enjoy great coffee, desserts and company. The butter but latte, Oreo dream bar and macaroons were great!

I've been here ever since this place started, and since then, this is my go-to spot for when I want to grab a cup of joe and study/relax. I believe I've tried every latte on the menu and none of them disappoint! One of my favorite cups is the butternut latte and you could never go wrong with the green tea latte. The chillers aren't so bad, but because it tends to get a bit cool inside (I always bring a sweater there just in case--could be just me since I'm sensitive to the cold), I usually go for the warm drinks. Snacks are ample, with delicious choices from cookies to cakes, you may forget for a moment it's a coffee shop and think it's a dessert joint (but then, it can be... right?). Now they serve smoothies and yogurt; they're on point with variety! If you get their cookies, I would say you could skip on the peanut butter cookie... Not enough peanut butter in my opinion. But I really like their biscottis! Seating is limited because Second Cup had now become a study hub. Panera, in the same plaza, would be my plan B if other students hogged all the tables. Other than that, if you find a spot, you can enjoy the coziness of Second Cup with sips of your desired beverage. Noise level varies. Bring a good pair of headphones. I've had days studying there where I had good runs and music was playing at an appropriate volume, and other times I couldn't bear it because of music playing a little louder than usual or there's always that one loud obnoxious group that makes all of us crank the volumes of our own music on max. But that's like in many other places, right? For the most part, I still say it's a good place to get your study grind on, or even just to meet with a group of friends to catch up with. 5 stars for the drinks and cozy, clean ambiance -- and the slight bias that it's the only legit coffee shop nearby. Still, it's an awesome establishment and just an FYI, there's only two locations in FL: Pines (this one) and Naples. Second Cup is originally from Canada. So it truly is a one-of-a-kind place!
